Sweet Music

Music is amazing isn't it? It has such a healing power. I'm a Hip/Hop/R&B/Jazz/Soft Rock chick myself. No matter what I'm going through I can always turn on my music and get lost in it. I know that music lovers across the world can share my sentiment on the subject. I mean for me its Lauryn Hill, Mary J, Jay Z, and so many more artists that just inspire me to wanna write, sing, laugh, cry; music provokes so many different emotions in me. I think my love for music came from my dad because he is the Music Man. I mean he has every album, and yes I did say album, you could ever think of. It's just something about a piano, or violin that calms the spirit or someone singing or spitting a bar that's so relatable you question whether or not you wrote the song yourself and are about to sue the tail off of someone lol. But on a serious note, I would be pretty lost and confused without music. Music, well good music is timeless and can speak so many different volumes to so many different people.

Music has gotten our country through many difficult times throughout history. My ancestors used to sing to one another during slavery to help to motivate one another and make each other faithful that things would get better. Music has the ability to speak to people even if there are no words. There is something that is universally relatable about music that speaks to one's soul. I feel like I have a personal love affair with my music that no one can understand.

HUNGRY FOR WORK

Hey there party people--- okay so that was a little corny! Anyway I haven't blogged in a while because life was happening to me and I do apologize but now I'm back with way too much time on my hands. I have successfully completed my freshman year of college and I, like many of my colleagues am trying or should I say dying to find a job! I have been applying here and there and everywhere trying to find somewhere to work. I must admit, I worked in retail for a year and I KNOW that it something I don't want to do again unless I absolutely have to! But frankly the economy is so bad right now that it is not only hard for college students like myself to find work, it's hard for anyone to find a job. It's getting scary. I was watching a news broadcast the other day and there was a lady expressing her grief about the subject. She was in her thirties and she couldn't find a job that she didn't have to travel across the city for. With gas prices up so high, we spend our week's earnings just trying to transport ourselves back and forth to work. It's getting ridiculous. I hope that change is coming (Obama), not that he can save the world but I believe in him and I think that he can bring some positive energy to this country because people seem to be so pessimistic right now. I know things will change, I just know it. Any insight, questions, concerns on the subject? Please feel free to comment.
