THE BEGINNING

You remind me of the beginning
The "do you like me?"

Early on when I was shy
And I would get butterflies
Just to hear you speak

You remind me of the funny feeling
In my tummy
When I thought of you
You remind me of back when
You'd pull out chairs
And play in my hair
That stuff from the beginning
when we first met and I played hard to get
Cat and mouse with you

The beginning's always the best
before you learn too much
when my guard's still up
before feelings mess things up
and emotions get in the way
Just me & you
and happiness
as silly as it sounds
I would get cheesy and dumb
when you'd be around
you'd ask how my day went
you'd listen so intently
touch my hand so gently
and you really cared

Yea the beginning
is by far
the best part
The beginning is what I'll miss
So let's stop at the beginning
And start all over again
This way we'll never know
